Background: The BSRTC aimed to standardize thyroid cytopathology reporting while enabling stratification of risk of malignancy (ROM) in thyroid nodules. Observational studies have demonstrated varying ROM for the Bethesda III and IV categories, further affected by the recent exemption of NIFTP.
